Mystery and suspense rolled into one

Bootham is a mystery video game for Windows operating systems and available for web play. Bootham takes players on a journey that requires piecing together clues to figure out how to escape the abandoned 19th Century asylum that you seem to be trapped inside. With an imposing time limit, the pressure is on immediately and it only adds to the tension and thrilling nature of the game. For teens and more mature players, it’s a wild ride from start to finish.

Take it one step at a time

Unlike other games in which you have a clear task or objective, Bootham leaves players in the dark, literally and metaphorically. Travelling through the abandoned hospital is done so in very dimly lit hallways and corridors and makes piecing together the puzzle even more difficult. all you have is a flashlight to navigate, but its batteries won’t last forever. The longer you take, the more likely you’ll be searching for codes in near pitch black. To move around the grounds, players can use elevators and hallways and discover each floor in search for any leads. If you solve the puzzle, your prize will be leaving the asylum. If not, you’ll be left to be tested on by mad surgeons.

Understated graphics

The look and feel of Bootham are hard to nail down. Though the graphics and crisp and clean, the dark nature of the environment doesn’t allow for much showcasing. It works, however, to the advantage of the game and feeds into its claustrophobic atmosphere.
